Steube Amendment to Free Veterans from Fees Passes in NDAA

Press Release

Date: July 14, 2022
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) today announced the inclusion of his "Free Veterans from Fees" amendment in the passage of the FY23 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

The amendment waives the application fee for any special use permits for veterans' demonstration and special events at war memorials on land administrated by the National Park Service in the District of Columbia.

"To help foster a culture in America in which all veterans are valued for their service to our nation, we must do our part to assist those who have served in our military. Veterans shouldn't be mandated to pay burdensome fees and processing costs in order to hold events at the very war memorials built in their honor," said Rep. Steube. "I am pleased to see my colleagues vote in favor of my legislation, offered as an amendment, to put those who served our country first!"

Rep. Steube's amendment mirrors his legislation, The Free Veterans from Fees Act, which was passed the U.S. House with bipartisan support in the 116th and 117th Congresses.

The "Free Veterans from Fees" amendment was one of five amendments Rep. Steube submitted to the FY23 NDAA to help our veterans, support our allies, and combat our foreign adversaries.
